Create Device

Creating a device implies creating a blueprint from your data, action and control. You must add information about your device in a template through our template module to do the same.

A template is a pre-defined structure to manage devices and their associated properties. The structure helps you to provision your IoT system to take care of the entire device management system with a seamless data flow.

IoTconnect’s template feature will help you with the following:

Add and manage devices
Assign rules to each device
Define associated data captured by the device in the form of attributes
Set commands to allocate the actions you want the device to perform

Create attribute

The first step to creating a template is to create attributes. Attributes are the properties of a device that you look to measure. It can be anything from temperature, humidity, luminosity, wattage, to co₂concentration. You need to add details that define the data of your devices. You can also validate your data to you can also restrict the data sent by your device to the cloud.

Create twin property

Reset the value of a sensor to its default value so that it starts sensing from that value. Twin property allows you to set the device initialization value. The set value will be considered the default value by the device.

Create commands

Commands are the functions or actions that you want your devices to perform. Device creation involves associating the device with the required template. For that, create a template. Then, view and manage your devices easily from the device module.

Device whitelisting

After creating a device, you need to register and acquire the device on IoT Connect. This is called device whitelisting. This enables the system to decide whether certain devices are allowed to connect.
